New rules for trademark applications

As of 1 October 2017, one of the changes is that the graphical representation requirement for submitting an EU trademark application has been abolished.

Signs can now be represented in other forms as long as “the representation is clear, precise, self-contained, easily accessible, intelligible, durable and objective.”(EUIPO)

The abolishment aims to make trademark entries on the EUTM Register more accessible, clearer and easier to search for.
